An interesting article on "Sulphur" s published in the "Yorkshire Ob-i-rver." . It is shown what an linpornnt. part it plays in the great key in"ustrijes of the world, in the rubber in .ustry, in the production of wood .pulp or paper-making, -in. refining ; crude petroleum, and in agriculture. All this eads up to White Island "At present the world's supply of sulphur is -btained from Sicily, Japan, and the Jnited States of America, the latter eing by far tho largest producer. There s no sulphur being produced on a ommercial scale anywhere within the British Empire, and, in view of the paramount importance of the sulphur industry- in relation to Empire trade, ..he prospects of exploiting the immensely valuable sulphur deposit in White Island, New Zealand, are viewed with the liveliest interest by everyone who is concerned in the commercial prosperity of the Empire."
