CASUALTIES.
(I'EKSS ASSOCIATION TBLEGBAHS.) AUCKLAND-, August 1. Robert Wera, aged twenty-two, was admitted to tho hospital in Auckland suffering from a wound in the back. Is is stated that other youths were walking behind Wera toying with a rifle when the weapon unexpectedly exploded. An operation, was performed last night. The patient's condition is serious, TE AWAMUTU, August A. li. McDonald," farm manager of the Tokanui Mental Hospital, died suddenly early this morning,- Hp was about as usual instructing the men for tho day's work when, without warning, he collapsed and expired before aid could be summoned. He had been farm manager since 1919, and waa recognised as a very capable official, being highly esteemed. Ho was aged 40, and learres a widow and family of five. WELLINGTON", August 1. An X-ray examination shows that Mrs Toomer, one of the victims of the Dixon street accident, suffered a broken slunUder blade and Mrs Whaler a fractured kip.
