Badio stations will be established at Montreal and Vancouver aB links in the Empire wireless programme, as a result of arrangements completed between the British and Canadian Governments and the Marconi Company. The stations will be of the shortwave beam type, owned by Marcoms, and guaranteed to give an operating speed of 100 words a minute. AUSTRALIA'S POSITION. ____ m . BEAM SYSTEM FAVOURED. (BT CABLS—nsfifl ASBOCIATTOS —COFTXIQBT.) (AUSTRALIAN AHB . H.Z. CABLX ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, July 24. Mr W. G. Gibson (Australian Post-master-General), commenting on the Imperial wireless decision, said that the ground was now clear. for the Dominions to take action, which hithertohad been impossible. It was most satisfactory that the Government was preparing to giro Australia either a super-power or a beam system. The former could not be erected within two years, and it was that communication should be established as early 88 possible. He was confident that the Commonwealth would take the necessary steps to connect the two countries with the beam system, although it not be sufficient for all requirements, giving only seven houre' service, none, being 1 business hours. Communication could be _ obtained within eight months. It might then be necessary to erect a super-power station to ensure continuous services.
