COMPENSATION CASES. (SPBCIAI, TO "thk prbss.") GREYMOUTH, July 18. In the Arbitration Court, in the compensation claim of Helen Archer against the Rimu Gold Dredging Company, Ltd., the amount of compensation payable to the plaintiff as a partial dependent on her_son, the late Frederick John Archer, who was killed by accident during his employment on the Simu dredge in January last, was'fixed at the lump sum of £450. A motion under Section' 38 of the Act for payment of this sum j direct to the plaintiff was adjourned for final hearing at Hokitika.on Monday next. Mr J. A. Murdoch appeared for the plaintiff. In the case of Cecil Johnsen against John Stuart, the amount of compensation "payable to the plaintiff in respect of an accident at Kumara arising out of his employment with the defendant, whereby he received an injury. to his hip, was fixed by the judge on a settle-, ment between the parties at £205 sb, in addition to the sum of £42 already paid. On the application of Mr J. A. Murdoch, for the plaintiff, the sum of, £55 5s was ordered to be paid direct to the mother of the plaintiff, who is "a minor, and the balance, of £l5O. to the Public Trustee, for the benefit of the plaintiff. Mr. H. F. Doogan appeared - for. the -defendant. . ; In the case of Schutze v. Berti Baty, a compensation claim for injury to an eye, Mr W. J. Joyce appeared for plaintiff, and Mi; F. A. Kitchingham for defendant. The plaintiff suffered an injury to his right eye through the explosion of a cylinder while in the employment- 6t defendant, a motor- garagd proprietor.
