TRAMCAR SIGNS.
TO THE EMTOB OF "THE PBZSS." Sir,—Suffer a car grumble. There is probably more trouble with No. 6 cars than with any others, as the Dallington and Aldwin's road termini are' each reached by the same route number, and dsspite the "W" which indicates the latter destination, it is quite common to find strangers landed at Aldwin's road instead of at Islington. Surely it might be possible to have different numbers for each destination and so avoid these annoyances. As it is at present, the Aldwin's road car bears the destination "Worcester street," which to many, seems absurd, since Worcester street is merely the route followed by the-car after leaving the Square. We might as. well have the- :.<! Bills" cars marked "Colombo •street." Outsiders consider that on its" eastward trip the Aldwin's road car should bear that name as its destination j the Dallington-bound car being naturally clearly marked "Dallington?" and showing a distinct number of its own in addition. the west-: ward run both cars should have their, destination given as "Hoon Hay road," or whatever name is borne by the location of the terminus in Lincoln road. Despite what has been done to simplify, matters, confusion is unabated. This note is not penned in any nasty spirit, but merely expresses quietly the fact that improvements in car signs are" still called for. —Yours, etc., G. July 17th, 1924.
