The possibility of Stewart Island being selected aa the venuo ifft tho next Bandars Oup oontest wa« mentioned by the chairman of tho Southland League (Mr O. J. Brodriok) at 'feet night's ineetinjr of ti*t body, When he stated that. at a. recent meeting held in Auckland, several gentlemen spoke in favour of Southland being chosen, therefors he thought that .the should support the Stewart Island Yacht Club in securing the bait contest to take plkee there, and with that object in view he thought that the following telegram should be despatched to the secretory of tne Yacht and Motor Boat AaeoCiatien, Auckland:—"We shall greatly appreciate your honouring us with the next Sanders Cup contest- at SewaH Island, and- cf>n lasMito j'ou of a ri&ht royjtl Weloonio, good water to Bail on and, a good tittie. . "We take tho liberty of telegraphing to you knowing, the good Bportirig spirit of AttcklandcrS. We are confident that drrangemente can be made to a&rtire a. highly successful contest.'* The chairman's enggestion was •unanimbualy approved, and the despatch of tho telegram as drafted authorised.
