♦ i All Saints' Cfourch. Tho Social Committeo of All Saints' Church met this week to mako final ur- j rangements for the parish social to bo held in the Parish Room next Wednes- j day evening. The musical programme is in the hands of Mrs Re-ay, and the members of the committee are arranq;- J ing games and competitions. j Dance. Mr and Mrs F. W. Partridge (Dryden street) gave a delightful little party in honour of their eldest daughter's twentieth birthday. Dancing was enjoyed in a room opening on to the balcony, and a very dainty supper was laid in the dining-room. Amongst those present were:—Misses Airini. Xgairo. and Lyndall Partridge. Maj-jorie Smith. Freda Cooper. Myrtle Allen. Sybil East, Rena Boulton, Edna Thomas. Bobbie Taylor, and Nancy Taylor, and Messrs. D." Richardson. C. L. Allen, D Carl, J. Burns, C. Wilson, E. Trist, L. Clarkson, E. G. Allen, X. Bourne, G. le Cren, H. Feast, and S. Taylor. Educational Progress. Not having previously had an opportunity to take advantage of the educational films shown by arrangement 'with the Department, the Sumner and Redcliffs schools, together with the School for the Deaf, will attend the first screening on Tuesday afternoon. The pictures are to be shown in the Town Hall at 2 o'clock, and are the result of representations made some months ago by the Sumner School Committee. Sumner Pot PourrL A meeting of Sumner ladies was held iu the school this week in connexion with the production of a Sumner Pot Pourri on August 20th and 21st. Tho headmaster of the school briefly outlined the objects of the effort, after which Mrs F. Barber took the chair, and a good deal of business was transacted. There was a good attendance of interested mothers, and the wholo schemo for the wardrobe was discussed in detail. Mrs McAulay consented to accept the position of wardrobe mistress. It was decided to accept offers for materials, and Mesdames Barber, Allen, and McAulay were appointed buyers, tho last-named to have charge of the cutting out. All present agreed to meet at the school 'next Wednesday afternoon to arrange tho garments and t distribute them. Many offers by the ladies to form a sewing bee were received. Amon-gst those in attendance were Mesdames G. F. Allen, G. A. Alex--1 ander, F. D. Bates, F. Barber, Brittell, Crosby, T. F. Chambers, C. A. Dawe, Dobso'n, F. J Glackin, Gough,. AT. FT. Hoben Apologies were received from Mesdames Buxton, Matthews, Baseand, Sergison, Browne, and Partridge.

Personal. Mrs A. Murray (Stoke street, Sumner), who has lived in Sumner for oyer twenty years, left recently for the city, Where, "for private reasons, she expects to reside for some time. Her sons, Mr B. Murray and Mr B. A. Murray are at Culver den and Auckland respectively. During licr long stay in Sumner Mrs Murray gave willing assistance in many -ways to the progress of the district, and her many_ friends wish her prosperity and happiness m her new home.

Bridge Club. Somo of the enterprising residents of Eedcliffs recently formed a Bridge I Club, and several delightful evenings have already been held at the homes of 1 some of its members. The club meets every Monday evening, and so far tlie homes of Mr and Mrs Teppett, Mr and Mrs Williams, Miss Pender, and Mr and Mrs Souter have been visited. Members keep their own scores, and at toe end of the evening hand them to Mr Johnstone, the hon. secretary, to toe added up at the end of the season. The members of the club are:—Mr and Mrs Teppett, Mr and Mrs W. Johnstone, Mr and Mrs L. E. Williams Mrs Lee, and Miss E. Pender, Miss Phillippa and Mr Rex Hamilton, Mrs Carter, Misses G. and F.
