Ib fhe Assembly last night Mr Prendergast (Leader of the Labour Party) moved an amendment to the Address-in-Replj-, which was accepted as a noconfidenc«3 motion. After a spirited debate the Ministry- was defeated by .43 to 16. The Assembly adjourned. CABINET RESIGNS. LABOUR FORMING MINISTRY. (AUSTRALIAN AJTD S.Z. CABLB ASSOCIATION.) (Received July 17th, 9.35 p.m.) MELBOURNE, July 17. Following the defeat of the State Ministry, Sir Alexander Peacock tendered the resignation of the Cabinet. Hie Premier did not advise the Governor as to a, successor, but his Excellency sent for Mr Prendergast. It is understood the Labour leader is forming a Ministry.
