UNITY OF THE REICH:
GERMANY WILL PRESS FRANCE.
("ran nwu»"t
LONDON, June 22.
The Berlin- correspondent of "The ( Times" says that Germany undoubtedly intends to pin M. Herriot, French Prime Minister, to the promise that military evacuation of the Kuhr will commence as soon as the reparation experts' report is actually put into operation.
Speaking at Dessau, Anhalt, Dr. Stresemann, Foreign Minister, said he welcomed M. Herriot's declaration, which would mean the restoration of the status quo if simultaneously other areas occupied in contravention of the Versailles Treaty were also evacuated.
If to this were added the restoration of the economic and financial sovereignty of Germany, the door between the occupied and unoccupied Germany would be opened once more, and the unity of the Beich, for which Germany had : been struggling ever since the conclusion of the Peace Treaty, would be preserve. Germany in return would give a fair performance of the conditions attached to the experts' reports. '' Is France,'' asked Dr. Stresemann, "willing to live side by side with Germany as a peaceful neighbour?" Everybody in Germany would welcome this as a necessary preliminary to the peaceful development of Europe.
