IRON TRADE DISPUTE.

WELLINGTON, June 16. .The last of the engineering trades disputes, tho metal-workers, cited under Dominicji proposals of tho Ironmasters' Federation, came before the Conciliation Commissioner, Mr W. Newton, to-day. In each of the other dispute* in tb* trade the parties did not get past the hours clause, and tho case' 4 were referred to the Arbitration Court, To-day the dispute whs referred to tho Court /or interpretation of -legal •points.
SUBDIVISIONS.
REMIT TO MUNICIPAL CONFERENCE.
The following remit by the Nelson City Council to the next Municipal Conference appertaining to tho subdivision of land, was approved last night by the Christchurch City Council and its delegates to the conference were: instructed to support it: — (1) To have the Council's powers more clearly denned. (2) To prevent the making of alterations to plans after they have been endorsed as approved and have been handed back to the persons submitting same, without the full knowledge and consent of the Council. (3) To provide for the granting of conditional approval only and the compelling of the District Land Registrar to accept plans endorsed with such conditional approval. (4) To give the Council power to charge a foe for inspection and approval of plans.
