A RACING PERMIT.
TRANSFER ILLEGAL,
(PBESS iSSOCIATJOH TKLZOEUt.) WELLINGTON, June 16. |Sfr John Luke, M.P., chairman, reported at the meeting of the Winter Show Committee to-night that the Cabinet had refused to grant a racing permit in connexion with the show, the Attorney-General having ruled that the proposed exchange of the hunt club pernuMor a racing permit was illegal. The Wellington Kacing Club had promised the committee a donation or £SOO if the permit were granted, so that the committee would lose that sum. The secretary reported that the 8000 square feet of floor space was almost all taken up, Hutt Valley section accounting for 1868 square feet, and there was every prospect of the show being a great success.
