MR LLOYD GEORGE'S POSITION. (BY CABLE—PRESB ASSOCIATION COPYBIGHT ) (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) LONDON. June 8. Tho political correspondent of the "Sunday Times" draws attention to a passage in Mr L'oyu George's speech on Friday when he said that he anticipated within a lifetime the population of the Dominions would be 100,1)00,000 instead of 16,600,000. Mr Lloyd George proceeded to emphasise the importance of knitting the Empire by consultation and common 'action. "It will not be surprising," comments the correspondent, "if Mr Lloyd George regards the Imperial Preference proposals, which will be debated on J up. J 18th, as entitled to sympathetic) consideration. "The story that the Baldwinites precipitated the last election, because they discovered tuat Mr Lloyd George was prepared to take a leaY out of Joseph Chamberlain's book, had this much truth, that 'Turing his visit to Canada Mr Lloyd George discussed preference fully with the leading men.
