The award o£ the Industrial Court in the shipbuilding dispute grants a general increase of 7s week.y over prevailing-rates, the increase being made in two instalments on Juno 14th and September 20th, with an additional sixpence diily for men engaged in repair work at Southampton. [An unofficial strike of engineer? caused disorganisation at Southampton. The men ! were demanding an increase in wages of 17s i 6d a week to bring them into line with the | London dock workers.]

TO JAVA mR REPAIRS. AUSTRALIAN WORKMEN LOSE PORT LYTTELTON. SYDNEY, June 9. Owing to the refusal of employees at the looal dockyards to repair the Port Lyttclton, it is probable' that the vessel will have to undergo permanent repairs in Java. Arrangements are in progress lor temporary repairs to be effected in Sydney, following which the vessel will leave for x>atavia. [Trouble developed over the Port Lyttelton some time ago When she arrived in Sydney for repairs. It. was stated that the vessel was declared "black" as a protest against the steamship proprietors having taken action. which resulted in a number of members of the crew of another vessel of the pame line being sentenced to three months' hnprisonment for refusing duty at sea.]
