"ALADDIN.** To-night local theatregoers "will D£ given their last chance of' seeinpr the gorgeous J. C. Williamson pantomime, "Aladdin," at the Theatre, Royal. The two performances on Saturday—afternoon and evening—attrricfed cro-,vd«l houses, many poople being turned away at "both' sessions, "Aladdin," a-s a spectacle, compares vroll with any of its predecessors, brut it is a good deal more than a spectacle. It hsa beautiful music •and the movement of the piece i 3 pleasantly diversified by the interpolation of irrelevant comedy. The wedding scene leaves one with a bewildering memory of ehimnrering crystal, crimson, ana beautiful girls. In tha midst •of all is, the blazing ■ chandelier •w'ith, iti precious freightage of girlhood. , There is concentrated light, colour, song end laughter. The castas headed by Miss Ada Reeve, whose work is'vivacious. One of the most of her singing numbers is "Can You Forget?", a duet with Hope Cliarteris. Miss Charfcerifl. who takes the Tiart of the Princess So-Shi. gave a pretty solo, "The Piper of Love." The role of the dame is, taken by' Tom Payne, who is full of .comedy. IVrthcr bright work is furnished by Hector St. Clair, who appears as Wiehoe-Washee, the. Chinese laundry assistant.
