BOWLING.
CHRISTCHURCH CLUB.
The animal meeting of the Chri*tclroreh Bowling Club wa« held last night. Thera wea an attendance of more than thirty members, the president (Dr. J. C. Pairman) occupying the chair. The directors, in their annual report, congratulated members on a highly successful season. The treasurer's balance showed a surplus o£ receipts over expenditure of£'i*< 9s 3d, and it was proposed to ask members to vote towards the liqu.dation of 'the mortgage account the sum of £SO, together with the profit from the sale of refreshments, £3 16s 3d. During the past -season thirteen new members had been elected, and six had resigned, • leaving a roil number at present of eigiity-four. It was hoped, that members individually would do their best to secure further enrolment}. A sp.cial vote of thanks was due to those ladies who assisted the committee on the iirst Saturdays of the season. Thanks were aiso due to Mr W. 11. Gibb for taking- charge of the commissariat during the Utter. half of the year. To the Match Comm.ttee and the sole selector grateful thanks were due. The cordial thanks of the club were also due to the green superintendent, and to Mr J. H. Sealer, who gave advice acd assistance in levelling arid top-dressing the gr?en. He had sent in an exhaustive report on the maintenance and condition of the playing surface. The Match Committee' submitted a report on the contests of the year. The report and balance-sheet were adopted The election of otficers resulted as follows: —President, Mr C. H. Piper; vice-presi-dents, Messrs A. D.ckson and CD. Hardie; secretary, Mr J. 0. Jameson iwith an associate secrstary to be appointed by the directors); treasurer, Mr C. J. Atkinson; directors, Dr. A. J. Orchard, Messrs W. S. Newburgh, G. Lewis, and \V. Helliwell; match committee, Mes3rs G. I.ewi3 and W. Heliiwell- dsiegate to Centre, Mr A. Dickson; auditor, Mr T. Newjurgh. The jsriMS' won during last season were presented by the president.
The principle of the daylight-saving-scheme wag artirmed, and it was resolved to recommend the Centre to give. the proposal its hearty support. Votes of thanks were then passed to. the Udrej and to the retiring:offlcere. ■:-•-> ;
