Holland, MJ?., chairman of the Parliamentary Labour Party:—'\ On behalf of my executive council,-I have to express to you their very keen appreciation of the services rendered to the railwaymen by you and your party during the recont dispute. The Minister of Mines has notified the Buller County Council that he is prepared to authorise the expenditure of £3OO on the Waimangaroa-DSfanis-ton road, provided the Courfcil complies with certain conditions. x •"* Aeroplane at Greymouth. Unfavourable weather has precluded the possibility of many flights being made by the Avro aeroplane, which has returned fsom Westport,. in charge of Captain Harrington, but the machine was. over the town for a brief period this morning. ~ ~ Hotel Destroyed. after 11.30 p.m. on Friday the Mawlieraiti Hotel and post office were destroyed by fire. All of tho contents of both buildings were destroyed, including a considerable sum of money in the hotel. A temporary post office was opened on Saturday. The hotel, which was erected about twenty-five years ago, was 'utilised to a considerable extent by travellers by train and road. It was owned by Mr L. Pedrazzi, of Greymouth, and leased to Mr F. C. Watt, who succeeded, Mrs J. Watt about a month ago. The insurances, which were in the South British Office, amounted to £4OO.

Proposed Band Contest.

Meldrum, S.M.-, John Henry Wall wat charged -with being a rogue and vagabond, in that he was found on, premises, by night without lawful excuse. Senior-Sergeant ; McCarthy said the accused was from Canterbury, and had been making a nuisance of himself by going intp houses at night.
