BUSINESS CONCLUDED.

(PEESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, March 6. The Medical Conference decided that the next Annual Conference should beheld at Timaru and at The Hermitago, Mount Cook, -fine South Canterbury Division to be requested to nominate the president-elect. Tne annual report of the Council stated that 56 new members had been elected, bringing the membership to 726. The Council reaffirmed its adherence to tine principle of wards tor paying patients in puolie hospitals in aauition to wards for indigent patients. It was hoped at an early date to submit to ttie Minister concrete proposals ior the improved administration of public hospitals. At the Minister's request, certain information was prepared for circulation with regard to cancer and tuberculosis, with a viewto securing from the public more cooperation in the early discovery and tnerefore more effectual treatment of these diseases. In reply to representations the Minister of Justice had declined to make provision for the appointment of medical assessors to sit with the Coroner or Judge where medical evidence was given. The committee dealing with anaesthetics had been asked to continue its investigations and submit a full report. The amount standing to the credit of the New Zealand Medical Benevolent Fund was £4858. There were 408 members on the register. Five applications for assistance were received during the year, the total sum granted being £236. The election of officers resulted:— Chairman of Council and editor of "Journal," Dr. J. S. Elliott; hon. secretary, Dr. R. Campbell Begg; executive committee, Drs. J. S. Elliott, W. E. Herbert, William Young, and E, Campbell Begg (all of Wellington). The delegates left for Rotorua by special train to-day. The conference has concluded.
