SWIMMING.
ASHBURTON EAST CLUB. The Ashburton East Swimming Club heM a programme of events in the°Hampstead memorial baths last evening. The programme was timed to start at 6.30. kit as has been tho case in nearly all the meetings held by this club this season, it was nearly 7 o'clcck before the first event was decided. The official handicapper was absent, and his depuby did not commence making out the list until well after tho advertised time of starting. The following were the results:— Hunt and Hardy shields' series—Backatroke, boys 12 to 14: A. Bradford, 16 points 1; V. Biackburn, 14 points 2. Bovb over 14: B. Hamlin, 18 points 1. Girls, over li3.
