Councillor Butcher, a Labour member of the Sheffield City Couneil 3 has resigned his seat owing to poor circumstances. He has been out of wort for two years, and, in his letter to the Town Clerk, said that dire poverty and public representation were incompatible. The resignation was accepted with regret. the Lord Mayor describing the matter as a tragedy.
