ADDINGTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of the Addington School Committee was held on Tuesday, when there were present—Mr Geo. Wear (presiding). Mesdames Kobb and Martin, Messrs Fisk, Barnett, Worrall, Greig, • and Hewitt (secretary). Mr Streeter for absence. The headmaster reported that the average attendance for the X /aß ' month was 721. Miss I). JVI. Haberfieid and Mr
\V. A. Pierr had passed their M.A. Degree examinations, and Aliss Gwen Jttowo and Air W. J. Eawards had been appointed pupil teachers. The secretary reported that lie had written congratulating .uloyd Hartisan and Mavis Dsborce, who had been eucin ihe Natioaai Scholarship examination. Correspondence was received drawing the attention of the school oommittee to the frequency of school iires, and asking that piecaalions be taken. During the month 3j swimming certificates were distributed and more will be qualified foi before the end of the season. It was decided to send a letter of condolence to Mrs Down. Boulton avenue, sympathising with her in the losa of her father. Permission was granted Rev. Hy. Braddock to address the children. The congratulations of the committee were extended to Miss Haberfieid and Mr Pierr, successful degree candidates. Master Jack Hancock, who has not missed a single day for nine years, was oonjrratulated on his splendid record, and suitable recognition will be made. Tho matter of accommodation was again discussed, and lengthy correspondence was read. After very careful consideration, it was agreed that the committee call a public meeting of parents anu householders on Tuesday, March 11th, to place the matter before them.
