AUCTIONS. H. MATSON AM) CO. MATSOX AND GO. ALDINGTON MARKET REPORT. FAT CATTLE. The entry comprised over 500 head, and Sr. practically every claes the supply exceeded the demand, and lower priee3 had to ce accepted by vendors. There were occasional gleams of sunshine in the bidding-, but taken all round, the market -was an unsatisfactory one, a lot of the pens were full of cow beof cf indifferent quality, as also were the steers, many of which were hard, end showed signs of 'h-avel. An odd beast ur two made over £lB, but we quote: Best sl-wrs, XI4 to £ls 15s. Hest butchers' steers, £l2 to £l3 lOs. Medium steers, £lO 10a to £ll 15s. Rougher and hard sorts, £6 10s to £9. There **3 a miscellaneous entry of store (attic, and weekly this market seems to get "vorse. At tho present time it wonld look » fitting opportunity to buy a lot of tbe store cattle for potting- down and boneless beci. If there is any truth in. the report that North America has got the foot and mouth disease, then surely it should be a safe investment. 'Wc are not quoting price;!, i.s there was nothing quotable on the market. FOR BEST RESULTS CONSIGN TOUR STOCK TO H. MATSON A NT,, CO., ALDINGTON. DAIRY CATTLE. CALVES. There v.as an cxroptionally large yarding c: calves, which consisted of a good percentage of prime solders, this clas3 commanded the attention, of the buyers, and realised prices up to fair value but tne medium and inferior class was not wanted, and difficulty was fannd in quitting anything but the primeat quality. FAT LAMBS. There *wceb some GOOO fab lambs penned at Addington tc-day, and this, following on' an entry of 7000 at TinwiUd yesterday, seemed to havo an easing influence on the market. The entry comprised a fair proportion of ■ large plain Coast lambs, second and unfinished, end the earlier portion of the salo comprised a lot of light unfinished Canterbury lambs. These particular grades of lambs, in. our opinion, seemed to sell really better than prime handy weights, although the general expression of opinion was that prime heavy lambs sold at last v-ek'B rates to a shade easier. The writer ,'f ,uito convinced that the market generally i.iowed an easing tendency on the extremo rates that havo recently been ruling. for best Results, consign your STOCK *?0 H. STORE! SHEEP. There was quite representative entry and a largo attendance of the public. In our opinion, wherever large-framed evenwoo Lied ewos were on offer they were readily competed for, and they were passing into tho hands of tile farmer in truck lots. There were also many enquiries for large-framed two-tooth ewes. As regards second grade ewee, it did not matter whether two-tooth or a sound-mouth, thero was ft noticeable irregularity in tho sales effected and the bidding forthcoming. Third quality ewes and unoertain aged ewes seemed to fully maintain previous week's prices. Wethers, if anything, were selling at recent rates, but thore were very few yarded, and owing to the scarcity of feed tho competition was not keen. Rape Lambs—There were many enquiries forthcoming for rape lambs, but there were only Bor 4 pons in the yard. Second grade lambs —Last week's prices were well maintained, and in some instances exceeded. Third grade lambs and culls sold irregularly, and, in our opinion, were hard to quit. Generally, it waa a marvellous sale, and ■we sold the whole of our entry. FOR BEST RESULTS, CONSIGN" YOUR STOCK TO H. JIATSON AND CO., ADDING TON. FAT PIGS.
