Tho former was stated to have been fairly well conducted, while the report on the Houthcoto Arms was th*t it hod been badly conducted. Complaints had been reived of Sunday and »ftcr-tou.r trading being c-arrr d on. Men were been hanging l about the locality on Sundays and after hoars, showing thut n, certain amount of .trading was carried on. On January 2Sru the licences, Edward Bull, was fined £lO and costs lor having \is premises open. for tho sale of liquor after hour 3- and also fined £1 and costs for exposing. liquor for sale. On the eanie date threo persons were each fine-l 20s and costs for beinp on tho premises after hours, A copy of the police report would b© sent to the licensee of tile Heathcote Arms Hotel, who would lie requirad to Rive an assurance that the hotel would be better conducted in the future, otherwise he -would have to transfer tha license. The matter would bo considered at the annual meeting of the committee. Thomas R. Hughes (Mr F. "\V. Cowlisha-w) was (mated a transfer of the license of the Motropole Hotel, AJroroa. from E. H.
