SWIMMING.

CANTERBURY CENTRE. The monthly meeting of the delegates of the Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association wo held last night. An apology for absence was received from the president, Mr H. S. Williams. Mr C. Kent was voted to the chair. The New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association wrote stating that the New Zealand championship meeting for 1925 had been allotted to the Centre and enquiring what step 3, if any, tho Centre proposed to take in the direction of securing better accommodation for the public at the Tepid Baths. Mr C. Atkinson said that the Centre could only influence the City Council to increase the accommodation. Tho letter was received.

The action of the president (Mr Williams) in writing to the Corsair Bay Club advising it that the polo match, Kichmond v. Corsair Bay, wo 3 to he played on February 10th and stating that the defaulters' fee was 7s was endorsed.

The United C'.ub wrote stating that the East Christehurch Club had applied for and had been granted permission to hold the Harris Cap inter-club race at its carnival in the East Christehurch Sohool baths on March Ist. The United Club had applied to the East Christehurch Club for permission for the club's Morris Cup team and one emergency to have a few training swims for the race in their baths. Permifsion had been refused. In view of that fact the club asked that the race be removed to another CiUb. Mr C. Simes, representing the United Club, stated Ibat that club had been refused' trial swims in the East Christehurch Club for the purpose of training for the Harris Cup. . Mr C. Atkinson, the East Christehurch delegate, said that the East Christehurch Ciub was a mixed club and for that and special conditions of the bath control the United Club's request had been refused. Tie chairman said that there had been some friction between the clubs, but he thought that the matter Had better be dr.>nped. The Whaxanni Amateur Club wrote stating that Mr A. H. Jacks had been appointed {h'j third delegate to the Centre.
