INCOME-TAX RETURNS.
QUESTION OP TAXATION REDUCTION. EMPIRE DEVELOPMENT LOANS
(PBXSS ASSOCIATION TXLEOBAJC.)
WELLINGTON, March 3,
The Prime Minister, in. reply to a question, said he understood that the income tax had been coming in well, but until the returns were in from tho whole of the districts, it was impossible to say what the actual position would be at the end of the financial year. In tho meantime he had nothing to add to tho statement he had already made with regard to the prospects of a further reduction in taxation in tho Dominion.
With the reference to Empire development loans, Mr Massey said he was glad to see' that the Labour Government in England had taken up tho proposal submitted by the Baldwin Government to the Empire Economic Conference. The question of such a loan for New Zealand, whatever tho amount might be, would have to come before, and be decided by, Parliament next session.
