MONDAY. (Before Mr H. Y. AYiddowson, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS.

Two first offenders wer each convicted and fined 20s, in default -18 hours' imprisonment.

Another first offender was convicted and fined 10s, in default 24 hours' imprisonment. William Granger, aliu3 Richard Gardiner Gainger, 47 years of age, was convicted and fined 20s, in default three days' imprisonment for drunkenness.

George Ewing, 30 years of age, pleaded gu'ilty to having been found' drank in Colombo street and to having wilfully damaged a cab window, valued at 12s 6d, the property of Robert Allen, thereby committing mischief. Accused was convicted and fined 10s, in default 24 hours' inrr>risonment on tbfi first charge, and on the second he was convicted and fined 20s and costs, and he was' ordered to pay the amount of the damage done to the cab, in default seven days' imprisonment. Michael Francis Commons, machinist. Christchurch (Mr H. W. Atack) proceeded against FHward Wilvm, tobacconist, and fancy foods dealer. Christchurch, for the sum of £l3 15s, as money owing on the sale of certain toys. Judgment was given for the defendant with costs.

KAIAPOI. (Before Mr Wyvem Wilson, S.M.) Thomas Edward Holloway, charged with using obscene language in a. public p.ace, was admitted to probation for two years on condition he abstained from alcoholic liquor and was not found on licensed premises during that period. Judgment for plaintiff by default was given in Papprill, Salter and Gresson v. Frank Merrin, jun., claim, £3 17s; J. &. Blackwell v. Harry Pohio, claim lis; C. B. Higgs v. Frank Merrin, jun., claim, £ls s»- - „ In Norman V. Smith Company v. Do^g.as Jones, claim, £5 7s 6d, defendant was ordered to pay the amount within seven days, in default "seven days' imprisonment.

GERALDINE. (Before Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M.)

A couple of civil cases, Dr. Curtis v. A. V. Simmons, claim £4 16s 6d, and T. Sherratt and Son v. E. Taylor, claim, £ls 2s 2d, resulted in judgment for the amounts claim, ed, with costs. W. Stanbury v. Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd., was a claim for wages. Mr Scott appeared for plaintiff and Mr Barklie for defendants. The case was adjournedi till April 7th. A. J. McKay v. B. Horgan. Mr Barklie appeared for plaintiff on judgment summons in Tespect to a balance due of £2 19s 3d, and said that on leaving Dunedin defendant had failed to pay 5s a week as arranged. The defendant said the expense of coming to Geraldine had prevented him doing so, and just as he was getting straight he found himself out of a situation. He said he- would pay as soon as he got work. His Worship advised him to do so, and saicl in the meantime he would make no order.

After hearing evidence, his Worship granted renewals of the land agents' licenses to J. McLecd and J. Stevens; an application by W. Bruce Wilson was adjourned.

IN OTHER PLACES. - MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE. (PBESS ASSOCIATION TXLEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, March 3. John Robert Fox was charged with manslaughter, arising out of the death of Constable Robert Todd at Onehunga, on November 14th, in a collision between a motorcar and a Chinaman's cart. He was remanded, bail being fixed at £IOO.
