OBITUARY.
I A promising career has been ended, i and Wellington has lost a good athiete j and a sound cricketer by the Geatli of Mr Leslie Lomas, sou of Mr J. M. Lomas, Maoribank, Upper Huts. Deceased, -who was 23 years of age, was born in Dunedin and served his apprenticeship as an architect with Messrs ; Walden, of that cTT-.y. He served at I the front with the Artillery, and was j -gassed during the course of a heavy arj tillery bombardment. He had been I in indifferent health for some time, and j as a result of a relapse was in hospita. I for a period. He had made a fair re- ! covery when he had a second relapse, j death following shortly after. He came | to Wellington a few years back and ] joined the architects' section of the j Land and Survey Department. He ! was at one time a. good all-round athI lote, and a senior member of the \ Thorndon Cricket Club, of which he I was regarded as a . most promising player.
