FRANCE AND ROUMANIA.
NO LOAN ASKED. (BY CABLE —PRESS ASSOCIATION COI-2IUGIEI.) (eeuteb's tblegeams.) PARIS, January SO. A long authoritative statement now makes it clear that Roumania has definitely renounced any intention of asking the French Government for a loan of 100 J (XH),000 francs.
It is explained that the inevitable delay in the French Parliament voting the loan compels Roumania to seek other means of tiding over its difficulties, and most orders for war material have been given to Roumanian industries. This is advantageous both to Roumania and to France; to the former on account of its depreciated exchange, and to the latter because it gives an opportunity to practise another economy at a moment when she is endeavouring to find means to balance the Budget. It is emphasised that Franco-Rou-manian relations are in nowise affected. £lt has been the complaint of several British and American publicists that France, while declining to meet her inter-Allied war liabilities, can 6till find money for loans to the smaller European Powers who are ready to purchase war material from. French manufacturers.!
