In the Lake Eva oil case, Thompson ivas committed for trial on a charge of false representations. The State Mining Engineer gave evidence that there was as much chance of finding oil at the place of tho reported discovery as of finding nectarines on a gum tree. tin connexion with the Lake Eva oil "find," an analysis of the flow proved that it contained manufactured products. Later, an oil tank, with pipes leading to the bore, was found under the bed of Rothkehl, the "discoverer.'' Warrants were issued for the arrest of Rothkehl and his mate Thompson, who both disappeared when the story of the oil find was first told.]
