GOLF.
AVONDALE CLUB. The annual meeting of the Avo-ndale Golf Club was -held in the Y.M.O.A. rooms,. Mr E. J. Pumphrey presiding over a good attendance. The chairman, in opening the meeting, said that tho club had had a very successful year,' and was in a good financial position, a credit balance at pressut iying in tho bank, while the club was free from liabilities. The fifth annual report and balance-sheet showed a membership cf ladies and 97 men, a total of 191, an increase over last year of 10. /"" The report arid balance-sheet were adopted. The following officers were elected:—President, Mr G. H. Scales; vice-presidents, Messrs J. W. Beanland and C. T. MosJ-ey; captain, Mr H. I«. Bennett; committee, Ivies:rs G. A. G. -Connal, F. I/. Hutchinson, H-. J. McCracken, W. H. MacDougall, J. M. Preston and J. H. *W. Shepphard; ladies' captain, Mrs Pumphrey; secretary, Mlrs F. Banks; committee. Misses M. Sapsford, Gibbons and Broadway ; auditor, Mr G. T. Bullock.
