A tragedy marred tho festivities in connexion with the visit of tho cruiser squadron at Trincomalee.
A motor bus carryiiig two officers and 30 men to Kandy capsized a milo from Dambulla.
Petty-Officer Wood was killed and seven men slightly injured. Tho pettyofficer's body was convej-cd to Kandy for interment.
All the injured wero attended to at the Dambulla. hospital.
