COMPLAINT IN N.S.W. (BY CABLE—PRE 93 ASSOCIATION—COPTEtGHT.) (.AUSTBAAIAN AHD N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION./ (Received January 30th, 10.15 p.m.) i SYDNEY, January 80. ' A deputation- from the Miners' Federation asked the Minister for Mines to appoint a Royal Commission to enquire into conditions in the mines on the Maitland coalfield. It was stated that there is grave danger from inflammable gas and inadequate testing of the air before the firing of shots, as well as a thoroughly insufficient inspection. __ Mr J. C. L. Fitzpatrick was so impressed that he promised to confer immediately with the Chief Inspector of Mines, to decide what action should be taken.
