NOXIOUS WEEDS.
(PBZS3 &SSOCIATO>ST TEUEGBAir.)
WELLINGTON, January 30.
At to-day's meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, Colonel Herbert, speaking on the subject of noxious weeds, said they were spreading rapidly over both islands and they were shutting their eyes to the fact that ten 3 of thousands of acres were going out of cultivation owing to the spread of blackberry. He moved: "That this meeting views with alarm the spread of noxious weeds and asks the Government to see that the Act is urgently 'enforced in comparatively clean districts."
Other members said that while some farmers kept their land clean, others allowed weeds to spread, and it was of no use having .an Act unless it was enforced. The motion was carried.
