MOVEMENT IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA. (bt cabls—pnsss association corauQHT.) (AUSTEALIAN AND H.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) ADELAIDE}, January 29. A deputation representing temperanoo bodies and churches asked the Premier to gr£int a referendum pn the> of liqwor prohibition and also on the closing of hot-els at noon on Saturdays. Sir Henry Barwell, in reply, said definitely that he did not approve of a prohibition referendum. He pointed out the goocl effpet which eq.rly closing and strict enforcement of the existing legislation had had in reducing drunkenness and improving the position generally. He promised consideration of the Saturday noon closing suggestion.
