DRAINAGE BOARD ELECTION.

YESTERDAY'S POLL.

A poll was held yesterday for the election of two members of the Christchurch Drainage Board to represent tho Riccarton and Woolston sub-dis-tricts. When nominations for the Board closed on Saturday last, fifteen candidates wore proposed for twelve sents. Nino members of the Board were elected unopposed. They wero Messrs "Walter Hill (chairman), J. W. Beanland, H. G. Livingstone, H. Holland, S. C. Bing: ham, H. J- Otley, F. Burgoyne, A. T. Smith,' and W. J. Wallace. Ono new member, Mr W. R. Carey, was elected Ayitjio.ut' opposition. As a result of these elections upon nomination a poU was necessary in only two sub-districts, Riccarton and Woolston. For the Riccarton scat Messrs E. H. S. Hamilton S. A. Staples wero nominated, and for tho Woolston seat Messrs C. Hill anil D. Rowse. The poll yesterday was not a heavy one and in ono booth only fivo votes wero recorded. Messrs Hamilton and Rowso wero elected for Riccarton and Woolston respectively.
