AN ALMSHOUSE ROMANCE.
LONDON, January 12.
"I don't drink or smoke, but my hand is shaking. I suppose my age has something to do with it," said William Hayden, aged 88, a Crimean veteran, as he. signed the register after having married a widow, Jilizabeth Gloynes, aged 67, at Plymouth. William had to sit while the Registrar carried out the formalities, but Elizabeth was sprightly. The couple occupied adjoining cottages at the almshouse, the guardian of which acted as the part of Cupid in arranging the match, thereby rendering one cottage vacant, and available for another applicant.
