DRAINAGE BOARD ELECTION.

TO-DAY'S POLLING

Tho Drainage Board elections -will lake place to-day, when a poll will he token for the Ricearton and Woolston sub-districts. Nominations closed Q& Saturday and fifteen candidates were proposed for 12 seats. Eleven members of the present Board were amongst those nominated, and of these,. nineMessrs Walter Hill (chairman), , J. Beanland, H. G. Livingstone, H. Holland, S. Jt. Bingham, H. J. Burgoyne, A. T. Smith, and W. J. Walter —were elected unopposed. One new member, Mr TV. It. Carey, was also elected on nomination. Mr T. G. Russell withdrew his candidature in favour of Mr Bingham. Consequently elections •will be necessitated only in the case of the Ricearton and Woolston sub-districts. Those who were elected on nomination are as follows: — .Heathcote—Walter Hill"'(chairman). • Avon—W. J. Walter. St. Albans —J. TV. Beanland, Linwood —H. J. Otley. Sydenham—F. Burgoyne. Spreydon—A. T. Smith. • South-west —H. Holland. South-east —H. G. Livingstone. North-east—W. R. Carey. North-west —S. C. Bingham. To-day's polling hours will- be between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. The Ricearton candidates are E. H. S. Hamilton, and the sitting member, S. A. Staples. The • following will be the polling booths:— Marquee, corner Idtis road find TVairarapa .road. St. Paul's Church Schoolroom, Papanui. St. Barnabas's Church Schoolroom,, Clyde and Fendalton roads. Borough Council Chambers, Clarence road. Ricearton Timber Co., Ricearton road. Presbyterian Church Schoolroom, Puriri street. Harper's Store, Fendalton road and TVairarapa terrace. Motor Shed, corner Lincoln road and Clarence road. C. Hill, the sitting member, and D. Rowse • have been nominated for the Woolston seat. The ratepayers will vote at polling booths situated at the following places : Old' Borough Council Chambers, Ferry road. St. Peter's Church Schoolroom, Ferry and Aldwin's roads. Marquee, corner Ferry road and Mackworth street.
