CANTERBURY COLLEGE

BOARD OF GOVERNORS. The Board of Governors of Canterbury College met yesterday. Present: Messrs H. D. Ac-land (chairman), L. B. Wood, H. Boyd, J. 11. Cuningham, J. Deans, A. T. Donnelly, C. T. Aschman, J. J. Dougall, D. Brock, T. Hughes, Ivev. S. Lawry, Mr L. M. Isitt, M.P., Dr. C. Chilton, Mr J. C. Adams, Dr. G. M. L. Lester, the Very Rev. Dean Harper, Colonel C. J. omitu, M.L.C., and Mr A. E. Flower. Dr. C. Chilton wrote stating he had pleasure in informing the Board that he had received information from the State Forest Department to the eirect that the sum of £250 had been provided for the continuance of certain researches in forestry which were commenced in the College laboratory about two years ago. The conditions unciei which the grant was made were that the continuance of researches be completed as soon as possible' and that the ecology of the rain forests of the South Island should 'be given special attention. The researches would be carried on by Miss Murray, part time assistant at the College laboratory, and by other graduates. Tho letter was received and the grant accepted. College Committee. • The College Committee recommended .that the following lecturers and assistant lecturers be re-appointed for the session 1924:—Dr. JVC. Bradshaw, lecturer in music ; J. K. Purchase, lecturer in education : J. Morrison, lecturer in accountancy ; T. W. .Howe, lecturer in law; A. S. Taylor, assistant lecturer in property I. and contracts; Iv. M. Gresson, assistant lecturer in property 11., procedure, nnd conveyancing; H. H. Hanna, assistant lecturer in torts, criminal law, and cvidtfnoelt, A. Cuthbert, assistant lecturer in mercantile law; A. G. Henderson, iissistantlecturer in journalism; W. A. Smith, assistant lecturer in accountancv. That Mr A, S. Taylor, 8.A., LL.M., assistant lecturer on contracts and property 1., bo granted leave of absence during 1824, and that Mr K. M. Gresson. LL.B., and Mr L. AY. Gee, LL.M. be appointed acting assistant lecturers ill contracts and property I. ' respectively. The report was adopted. Museum and Library Committee. The' Museum and Library Committee recommended that- the thanks of the Board be accorded to Mr A. M. Wright for his kindness in arranging with the director of tho Noumea Museum during his recent visit to 'Walpole Island, to forward to the Canterbury Museum'a number of zoological specimens, including bird skins. The committed also reported that it had approved of the award by the director of the School of Art of the Rosa Snw-t-ell prize for 1924 to Mrs Rhona McKenzie. The report was adopted.
