REPUBLICAN ACTIVITY.

ATHENS, January 24,
Tho Chamber was densely crowded at the opening of the Legislative Assembly. The Royal Box was thrown open to the people, M. Venizelos, who was received with tremendous cheering, stated that the Government was of opinion that only means of solving the dynastic question waa by a plebiscite. This declaration aroused protests from the Republicans. M. Papanastassiou proposed the introduction of Bills for the overthrow of the dynasty and the establishment of a republic. M. Venizelos, interrupting, cjaid that if the people wera allowed to choose their own regime, and favoured a republic, ho would tell the people that there was no occasion to fear external dangers in connexion with tha dynastio question.
