The belief that man is a reasonable creature is one of the delusions that science and war between them have exploded. It simply doesn't stand to reason that a reasonable creature would do the things man does. No, we are primarily emotional. Reasonableness is a kind of disease -with which a very few men in each generation are afflicted. Once one has arrived at this conviction nothing that lie reads in the newspapers Trill surprise him, and almost anything will interest him.
