cmr cotmcm PROPOSED BY-LAW No. 11. pUBLIC NOTICE 13 HEREBY GIVEN that at a Special Meeting of the Christchurch City Council, held in the City Council Chamber, Oxford terrace, Christchurch, at 8.30 p.m. on THURSDAY, the 20th day of Lk-cem'oer, 1D23, a Resolution was adopted to moke a. Bv-law which may be cited' as "THE CHRISTCHURCH BYLAW No. 11. Tho following :3 the proposed By-law:— IN PURSUANCE of the jiowcrs and authorities vested in them by "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1920," acid each and every other power and aitthorisy thereunto in that behalf enabling them, the Chriatchurch City Council, acting cn behalf of the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the Citv of Chriatchurch, make and ordain this Bv-law: THIS BY-LAW may be cited as "THE CHRISTCHURCH BY-LAW No. 11," and shall form part of and be read togetuer with "The Christchurch By-'aw No. 1." Th(* Christchurch By-law No. 1 is hereby amended as follows: (1) Section 213 is hereby repealed and the following substituted therefor: —The Council may cancel or suspend, for such period as it thinks fit, the license in respect of .any vehicle, or any. driver's or conductor's licens© or any certificate of competency, or an# certificate of ability, iz it is proved to the satisfaction of the Council, or any Committee cf the Council to whom power in that behalf lias been delegated—that the owner if such vehicle or such driver or conductor or the holder of a certificate (whether of competency or ability) as the case may be has *»»en—a. Drunk when in charge of & licensed vehicle—or b. Been convicted of a crime—or c. ILis-betsn associated with prostitutes, spielers, or persons of tho criminal class—or d. Has been convicted of furious or reckless driving or of any offence which endangers the life cr safety of other persons—or e. Has been guilty of any misconduct which in the opinion of -the Council or of such Committee should disqualify him from holding such licrfSe or certificate. (2) Sub-section (b) of Section 278 is hereby amended by striking out the words "right'* and "off*' in the last line thereof, and substituting therefor the words "left" and "near" respectively. (3) Sub-section (d) of Section 0 of "The Christchurch By-law No. 4" is hereby amended by striking out the word "one*' in the second line thereof and substituting therefor the word "two." AND IT IS HEREBY FURTHER PUBLICLY NOTIFIED that the foregoing resolution will be submitted to an Ordinary Meeting of tho Chriatchurch City Council to be held in the City Council Chamber, Bituate in Oxford terrace, Christchurch, at 7.30 p.m. on MONDAY, the 28th day of January, .1924, for confirmation as a Special Order, and that a copy of the said proposed By-law is deposited at the office cf the Christchurch City Council, in Oxford terrace, Christchurch, and is open for Inspection by the publio during office hours, BY ORDER.
