MISHAP TO GOODS TRAIN. CPBI9B ABSOCIATIO* TBLSOaMt.) I TAIHAPE, December 6. A mishap occurred on th© railway about seven miles north of Taihape, whereby a guard was severely injured, several waggons smashed, and minor damages caused to the Main Trunk express. A goods train, leaving Taihape at 11 last night, was compelled to - cross 4 goods train frofn the north at Ngaurukehu. The Taihape train backed into a siding, which was not long enough to accommodate it, and the guard's van forcibly struck the stops and, with several waggons, toppled down 15 feet on to the main line. The guard, J. McCarthy, who was in the van, was injured, and fatten later in a special train to the Taihape hospital. The Une was cleared to permit the express, due at Taihape qt 6.30 this morning, to pass. Tho engine and van, while passing, shook down the wreckage, which struck a passenger car, smashing the windows and splintering the woodwork along half its length. Luckily, 110 personal injury was inflicted. The express arrived at Taihape an hour late.
