RICCARTON BAZAAR.
The luccarton Town Hall had an appearance of gaiety and colour yesterday afternoon, when a bazaar was held by the ladies of St. James's Church, with the object of raising further funds towards the cost of building the new church, now in course of erection.. At 2.30 p.m. the bazaar was officially declared open by the Mayor (Mr A. D. Ford), who, in the course of a short speech, wished the workers every possible success. The stalls which were situated on either side of the big hall, were then thrown open for business. Trade was brisk through the afternoon, and continued so during the evening. A marquee erected close to frhe main hall accommodated several stalls and these were kept busily engaged. The stall-holders yere:—Work Stall, Mrs Bailey; Children's Stall, Mesdames Craighead and Maddren; Baby Clothing Stall, Mrs Jticketts; Variety Stall, Mrs Waite; Bran Tub, Miss Price; Sweet Stall, Mrs Luttrell; Flower Stall, Mr E. Evans; Produce Stall, Mesdames Nixon and Joseph; Cake Stall, Mrs Price; Basket Stall, Mrs Hockley; Refreshments, Mrs Musgrove; Hoop-la, Mr H. Fisher; Chocolate Bowl, Master J. Price"; Ice-cream Stall, Mr R. Jarman. The Bazaar will remain open this afternoen and this evening.
