REDCLIFFS REGATTA.

; ♦ ; MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The BedclifEs Regatta and Gala Committeo met in the Community Hall on Tuesday. The president, Mr H. Le Page, was 'in the chair, and there was a large attendance. The Tramway Board wrote granting tho committee a, percentage on extra traffic on Gala Day. The Sumner Beautifying and Beach Improvement Golfimittee wroto granting tho i:se of the children's chuto on the usual terms. The president' reported that all arrangements were well in hand. The temporary ietty was in course of" construction. Tha Sumner Borough Council had promised to ?ive all assistance in its power in regard m lighting, water supply, etc. ° The various sub-committeee reported that all matters were well in train. The Sur-prise-Packet Committee stated- that over 600 valuable articles had been donated. The - matter of decorations was discussed, and the committee waa greatly strengthen! cd,. Mr G. Hines being appointed as supervisor of the work. Oilers of poles to carry flags 'were Mr J.'Carter was appointed to take charge of the sale of tickets for launch trips. A sample gold medal for the boxing tournament was approved by the committee, and it wa3 decided to have the occasion and date engraved on the medals. John Ambulance station would also be Ptaced in a convenient position. SATURDAY'S PROGRAMME. Apart from the full programme of sporting events at the Redcnifs regatta and gala on, Saturday, attention has been paid to ine provision of amusement for tha lor°-3 number of children who will accompany their parents. There wii l be races, irides on pomes, slides down the chute, ani a bioChristmas tree. Also there will be trips on the estuary in the fine launch Pacific. Bofreshmenfcs will be available, includ.no* so£t arinks and lollies. Older fo'.k will find a nuge tea tent anxious to cater for their requirements. The comfcct of mothers has Deen watched, and a special tent has been s*t f.sida for their benefit. Tne committee has endeavoured to make provision for the comfort, and enjoyment of the thousands who will visit Redclitls en Saturday next.
