Flannel Dance. The Trinity Young Mori's Club will hold the final dance of tho eeason to-night in the Excelsior Hall. It will tako tho form oi a flauaol dance, and tho musio will bo provided by Headman's Orchestra. Billiards. J. Irnfaro -won tho Lyttelton Club's flying 1 fifty billiards tournament on Monday night, J. Rudd being the r.unner-up. Tha club's sealed handicap brexk competition for a cue presented by Mr P. C. Martin, oi • Chris tchurch, was finished on November 30th. The result was: S. Wales 63 break 1, W. Graham 43 break 2, T. Firman 41 break 3. Tho Pictures. "The Little Church Around the Corner, the prize-winning picture in tho recent Wellington voting oontest, will bo repeated at the Harbour Light Theatre to-night, together 'with a comedy and the second episode of "The Oregon Trail." To-morrow "Bavu," a Universal mystery picture replete with thrills, will be screened. The supporting programme includes a Century comedy and a gazette. Swimming. A general meeting of tho Corsais Bay Swimming and Life-Saving- Club was heid fast evening. It waa reported that a polo' team, consisting oi E. McTeague, J. Richardson, B. Jones, T. Perry, A. Graham, H. Isherwood and W. Cook had been entered for the inter-chib competition. It was decided to hold an inter-club swimming carnival in the graving dock on Boxing Day, provided the use of the dock could be obtained. A handsome silver cup had been purchased for the. club championship over three distances, ''lira' Perry "had presented a silver cup for the swimmer gaining most points during the season, and tho winner would rLso receive the medal presented by Mr H. Aye is. A medal for schoolboys" events had been presented by Mr C. Mazev. The club is to purchase ch&llenge buttons for relay teams oom\petitions. Water Shortage. The town clerk has issued instructions that rigid occnoms* must be exercised in regard to tho water supply. Leaky taps should be reported at the Council Office and they will be attended to by the Cotmcil works staff free of charge. The block served by the Canterbury street reservoir was without water from 7 p.m. on 'Monday till 9.30 a.m. yesterday. Great inconvenience waa caused to those who had not taken the precaution to fill their water vessels orernight. In one instance a wellknown medico had to sent} down the street for sufficient water for shaving. Holders of permits for garden hoses Bhculd 'P iiat hoses may only ba used
when held in the hand and may not bo left running. • There ia no doubt that the permits for use of water for gardens have been abused, and many instances of the grossly extravagant use of water have come to light. The Council is determined to deal with this class of offender and a thorough irisuection of tho residential portion of the town was made last night.
