OBITUARY.
The ; death took placQ on Saturday night, after an illness extending over 17 weeks, of the Rev. V, Stanley Mercer, who for the past two years has been in charge of the Bluff .Methodist Church. Th§ deceased was horn in Perth, Western Australia, some 36 years ago, and/after being educated there and spending a three-year term at college, he studied law for 6ome years. He then came to New Zealand and took up work for a fey years, as a Home Missionary in the Presbyterian Church at Onga Onga,. in the Hawke's Bay district. Subsequently be e-tered the Methodist Church and for two years was minister in charge at Tauranga on the East Coast. There he was transferred Bluff and had remained there for the last two _ years where he completed his probationary course and was to have been ordained at the forthcoming conference ftt Christchurch in February rifext.
