SHOP ASSISTANTS.
APPLICATION FOR DOMINION AWARD. (special to "the press."} V DUNEDIN, December 4. A local application made by the employers for a new award covering shop assistants in the boot, hardware, stationery, fancy goods, and soft goods trades had been set down for hearing by the Conciliation Commissioner on December 14th. This hearing will not now be necessary, as in the meantime the New Zealand Shop Assistants' Federation has filed an application for a Dominion award, and by arrangement between that body and the New Zealand Drapers' Federation, a Dominion Conciliation. Council sitting has been fixed for January 30th at WellingtonLocal Council sittings, except in the Canterbury district, which is not in* eluded in the Dominion dispute, will therefore be dispensed with, and representatives from each district affected will take part in the Dominion Council proceedings at Wellington.
