PILGRIMS' ASSOCIATION.
MEETING" OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the committee of the Canterbury Pilgrims' Association was held in the City Council Chambers yesterday afternoon. Present: The Maj'or, Mx* J. A. Flesher (in the chair), Messrs 11.' B. Owen, E. It. Webb, F. G. Brittan, T. Barker, and Professor J.Shelley. ' A letter was received from the C'lirisfcchurch Domains Board asking that tli'j Association clear the ground occupied 'on Saturday, the 15th inst., of all debris, etc., before 9 a.m. on Sunday, the 16th, and prevent any damage being done to the Gardens. i Ifc»was decided to comply with ths Board's request. The Council of Christian Churches wrote stating that it had commended to its. members the j>roject of making reference, on December 16th, to_ the foundation of the province. A similar letter was also received from. Bishop Brodie. Both- communications w.ere, received.
The Mayor reported that a meeting of tho United Sunday schools had been held during the week, and all arrangements had been made for the holding of a young people's service in the Cathedral. The secretary reported that letters of invitation to take part in the march past on Saturday, the 15th inst., were sent to the following schools: —Marists, St. Bede's, Boys' High School, St. Margaret's, St. Michael's, St. Mary's School, the Victory' School, Technical College, St. Andrew's, Girls' • High School, Miss Gibson's School, and Cathedral Boys' School. The 'following local bodies, in addition to those already invited, have been sent letters inviting them to be present at the Sunday Anniversary service in the Cathedral.: —Sumner Borough Council, Biccarton Borough Council, Christy church Drainage Board, Hospital Board, New Brighton Borough Council, Heathcote County Council, Lyttelton 1 Harbour Board, and the Tramway Board. The Hon. .Sir It. Heat-on Bhodes wrote regretting that he would be unable to .be present ..at any of the func-' tions on account of his absence at the time on' the West Coast. The letter was. received. The secretary reported that the number of members,enrolled to date was 280, and the funds in hand totalled £lOl (is 6d.
