FRUIT-FARMING SCHOOL.
.7 1 » : , " A proposal that' nil experimental fruit farm be established in the Auckland province-was advanced at a meeting of fruitgrowers at Henderson, when the Hon. W. Noswoi-thy, -Minister Agriculture and ! Acting-Minister ojLands, was-present. ' Tlie matter had been advocated for some years, and though, the project had been, dropped during the late war a sit§ had. been-selected, said Mr H. G.'.Williams. That the advantages of technical education in .some instance? were very weak was realised, since the boys merely got agricultural'knowledge from book learning. , It. was felt that it would be of great advantage to 'fruitgrowers 'to have a school of agriculture in the province, especially in connexionwith fruitgrowing. Mr Williams suggested that the Minister might confer with the Hon. C. J. Parr in connexion with this matter. *' In reply,'Mr NosWorthy paid he realised the value of scientific education. but the only solid value lay in the jiractical side so far as a working mnn was concerned. He .was always ready to help practical ideas. Even though alternative proposals might be submit-, ted, lie would be glad to consider the request, because he could ,see that it was reasonable. . ■'•
