TUT-ANKH-AMEN.

SECOND STATUE SECURED. (BT CAJILE —PEE S3 ASSOCIATION —COPXBIOKT.) (austbalian and n.z. cable association.) (Received December 2nd, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, December 1. The correspondent at Luxor of the "Morning Post" states tliat natives on FrTtlay carried the ©scond life-size statue of Tut-Ankh-Amen from the tomb. Mr Howard Carter superintended every stag© of th© operations, as it would have been easy to crumble the woodwork to dust. Mr Carter now has the ante-chamber cleared ready for the final preparations for dismantling the outer shrine. H© is confident that all the shrines and mummy cases will be cleared from the mortuary chapel in six weeks. The Egyptian Press still bitterly resents the attitude of the Egyptian Government regarding the distribution of news from the tomb.

WALKING-STICKS FOUND. (BT CABLE —PRESS ASSOCIATION—COF?BIGHT.) (AUSTBALIAN AND N:Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) (Received December 2nd, 11.45 p.m.) LONDON, December 1. The Luxor correspondent of the "Daily Telegraph" states that Mr Howard Carter entered the outer shrine of the mortuary chapel and found a walking-sticlc covered with gold, on which was the name of Tutankh-amen. He next found four carved sticks covered with gold, but showing little signs of use. He is also understood to have found two alabaster vanes. These things were apparently buried in the belief that the dead Pharaoh's earthly spirit needed them during his vigil in the tomb.
