SUMNER BEAUTIFYING ASSOCIATION.
The regular meeting of the Sumner Beautifying and Improvement Associaction was held in the Council Chambers on Friday evening, the president, Mr T. B. Boulton, presiding. Attention was drawn to the state of the rockery at Clifton bridge. Arrangements were adopted to haive investigations made and the plot attended to. It was stated that the children's swings at Scarborough were being abused by youths who, two at a time, made a practice of swinging on them, 'ihe strain was too great, and the structures were threatened with serious phatically condemned as unreasonable and dangerous. It was decided to place notices above the swings advising visitors that they were to be used "uy children only." H was decided to write to the Borough Council asking them if there was any by-law protecting the proper u&> of sucn property. Ihe use of the children's chute as' a money-raising device during the holidays was discussed, and it was decided to give Mr J. C. McDonald a freehand m making arrangements. A sub-committee, consisting of the president, the secretary (Mr H. C. Jones) and Mr McDonald was appointinformation in connexion with the selection of a site for beach amusements.
